WFRP Web-Index
compiled by Oliver Rosenkranz (rossi@cs.tu-berlin.de)
Any comments, additions and donations should go to him personally via email.
Warning:
This is an quite old document. I added it to the web site as still a lot
of these web sites are available, but it is not quite actual. I will try
to cover this project later when I have some more time.
Welcome to a new - and hopefully long-living - institution on the web.
A master index for all web sites related directly to Warhammer Fantasy
Roleplay and a newsletter bringing new sites, site deaths or
recently moved or changed web pages to your attention together with
other WFRP web news worth to be told.
This newsletter will have an enormous length since I will try
to catch up with a short description of each and every exisiting WFRP
web page and a couple of other news.
TOP NEWS
Fantastic Adventure is still alive
The German RPG magazine Fantastic Adventure recently gave birth to its
third issue. That issue was delayed so long that already rumours had it that it
would never see the light of day. As every issue, there is an article for WFRP
included.
Warpstone #11 is out
The top-level WFRP fanzine continues to bring out high-quality articles and
lots of background for our favourite game. The illustrations get better every issue,
and the articles are an interesting mix of background (underworld, excummunication,
pit fighters), rules (ageing) and indepth-looks (warpstone usage) and adventure (full adventure).
Facts
As I regularly get in contact with people from all parts of the
world who are new on the internet and whose last info was that Games
Workshop stopped their support for WFRP, here are a few facts that
are nothing new to most of you, but may sound like words from the Lord
for a few others.
First of all, a British company called Hogshead Publishing bought a
license from GW to publish Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. Furthermore,
there are quite a number of local licensees in Germany (Das Schwarze
Einhorn), France (Jeux Descartes), Italy (Nexus Games), Spain (Distrimagen) and Poland
(MAG) that publish foreign-language versions of WFRP. Each and every
single of these companies has its own web page:
Germany: Das Schwarze Einhorn
France: Jeux Descartes
Italy: Nexus Games
Spain: Distrimagen
Poland: MAG
Rest of the world: Hogshead Publishing
Even more good news: WFRP has a very strong community on the net
with loads of web pages (see below) and a WFRP mailing list.
The WFRP mailing list
If you want to get in contact with other WFRP players or GMs,
discuss aspects of the WFRP background or rules set, show away some
of your own material or only read what other people have to say about
WFRP, then the number one place to go is the WFRP mailing list.
A mailing list is nothing more than a net computer (server) running
some program to forward any incoming email from an interested party
to every other interested party. To become an interested party, you
have to subscribe to the mailing list.
In case of the WFRP mailing list, this is done by sending an otherwise
empty email to the mailing list server
majordomo@employees.org with the following in the subject line:
subscribe wfrp your@own.email.address
You will receive a control email from the server. Follow the instructions
given in this email to become a member of the WFRP mailing list.
New Entries:
Since this is the second newsletter and the second version of the WFRP
master index, the following paragraph shows a link to all new web site
entries:
Magazines and Fanzines for WFRP on the web
Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is an old game with a small but
persistant fan community. Over the years, several roleplaying magazines
and a lot of fanzines have covered this game in articles.
Following this link, you can find a List of
WFRP articles from international rpg magazines and fanzines. This
list is regularly updated and should hold some usable information for
you collectors out there.
The British magazine Warpstone is the only still active English WFRP
paper magazine on the market and does a really good job.
Chaos Clamber is an irregular electronic WFRP fanzine

The WFRP Archives and www.warhammer.net
There is one place on the net that no WFRP gamer should miss:
The WFRP Archives are - as their name suggests - the one
central point on the web where all kind of material for use with Warhammer
Fantasy Roleplay is archived, taken from the mailing list or directly
sent to by fans from all over the globe.
It's web front end is www.warhammer.net, though this web site
holds much more than the archives. The Bergsburg project found its home
there as well as the WFRP Encyclopaedia (that went here from Rossi's
WFRP service). Also, the French fanzine of Le Grimoire has a web page
there - plus some other useful stuff (among which is the WFRP FAQ).
See below for a list of FTP sites describing the original WFRP Archives
as well as some mirror sites (some of them still maintained, others not).

Old German WFRP Archives Site (outdated, not maintained)
Outdated HTTP Archives Mirror (maintained)
Old MPGN FTP Archive (outdated, unmaintained)
The WFRP Adventure Collection
This web site is something special, too. And not solely because the author
of this newsletter is the editor of that project, too...
The WFRP Adventure Collection holds the largest collection of adventure
material - from short scenarios, complete adventures to full-grown campaigns -
for WFRP on the net. By now (29th of July 1999), 136 adventures can be found
there - and an update holding at least another 10 or 12 adventures is already
in the works.
However, in order to lay your greedy hands on all these adventures,
you have to contribute one of your adventures to the collection first.
This distribution policy is both the project's main strength (because
it always attracts new interested people and thus allows for an ever-
growing pool of adventures) and its weakness (since those among you who
are not willing or able to give something - but are always willing to
take - won't have access to it).

The City On The Edge Of Space - WFRP section
Paul Slevin created this web page to present some of his material, and he
took the chance as Ouro looked for some web space for his Forge.
Over the last year or so, Ouro produced an outstanding amount of material that he
posted to the WFRP mailing list. This is the 'archive' of these posts.
Other than this, Slev keeps promising some more material of his own, so
keep watching...

Ye Olde Den of Iniquity
Garett Lepper's WFRP web site shows up as being the archive of
his own material. He wrote quite a lot of career descriptions and
background for the Warhammer lands. Again, this site is a definite
Must-Go if you are looking for high quality material. It is also original
home of the Book of the Rats.

Tomas Fietland WFRP page
This is a WFRP web site with a promising design and some nice graphics.
Bad luck that obviously it isn't maintained any longer. It holds a WFRP
image gallery, a voting system for your favourite Wanna-Have sourcebook
and list of existing supplements for WFRP.
Another downside is that all links of this web site are broken (but
an auto-forward to the correct locations does exist) since the host
system name changed.

This is the web site of a now-dead fanzine which also published some
WFRP material. The quality of its articles was not too bad, so bad luck
it vanished. The web site is still there (possibly the editor, too?), so
people may hope to order back issues. In fact, there's even one short
sample article for WFRP

The Grim, Perilous World of Warhammer
Morten Krog's WFRP web site is one of the old-timers on the web
and has gone through some redesign to keep up with the development
of web design.
Morten presents several great projects of his, like the Norsca
project, or the WFRP FAQ which he took over to maintain.

This encyclopaedia has a WFRP entry (which is way out of date).
Nevertheless, follow the link below to see it.

Armies and Races of the Known World
This is a WFB web site! It contains a list of army lists for the table-top
game. That said, some areas and races are covered that are only sparsely covered
by WFRP, so one might want to try and filter out what he may want to use from
this in his campaign.
Ruined Halls - The Shattered Temple
I am unsure whether this is a WFRP site or not. Possibly, it elaborates
on a background which had heavy WFRP influence.
In the fraud section you can find some articles on different Chaos deities
which are definitely for WFRP.
Warhammer Links
Supposed to provide some index of WFRP sites on the net, the list
of links represents only a fraction of all available WFRP pages,
some links being incorrect, too.

no link is provided to enter the MUD. Then, one finds three short articles for use with
WH40K (RPG?).

WHNET
This web site has an outstanding and brilliant layout and design
and it's wholly dedicated to WFRP. There's only one problem: There's
still no WFRP material to be found inside. The authors say that this
will not be their last word, but sooner or later (better sooner than
later) they should really start and fill out all the gaps. They promise
adventures as well as plenty of background and rules material.
As for now, there's a Java chatroom and a guestbook.

Free Software from Phosporeign
This web page presents a WFRP software package: Game Master Pro -
an assistant who possibly co-manages your whole WFRP campaign.
The WFRP Treasury
This web site was an attempt to bring online a wide range of
original, interesting and unique WFRP material. The web pages
were created and put online, some material also. Then the web
host changed its practices (adding a banner atop of each page).
The web host manipulated each page accordingly which rendered
the WFRP Treasury pages useless (since the JavaScript code was
not created with this manipulation in mind). So, currently not
much (except the front page) can be seen.
However, instead of rewriting the pages to fit with the latest
web hosts desires, the author decided to completely re-vamp the
design and complexity of the whole site, making it a complete
online adventure (plus finding interesting ways to present all
that material, art and stuff). The new WFRP Treasury web site
is currently under construction and is intensely tested.

Rossi's WFRP Service
This web site was designed to be home of some of the author's WFRP
projects. For example, the Miragliano project was the first WFRP
project ever that tried to combine man-power via the internet by
luring different authors into writing a city description via the
internet. The WFRP Addendum (which is now password-protected due
to copyright reasons - as well as a couple of further pages) was
planned to be a One-Book-for-all-new-rules-from-the-internet. Finally,
the WFRP Adventure Collection developed into a completely stand-alone
(now untied from the rest of these pages) project and therefore got
its own web page entry in this newsletter (see above). Apart from these
projects, you can find a couple of more background material here.
